Esta semana hemos tenido la fortuna de compartir ciudad con casi setecientos Rectores de todo el mundo que han hecho Inventario del patrimonio que poseen en sus respectivas Universidades. Durante el Encuentro se ha debatido sobre como formar a esos líderes que transforman, cómo investigar de forma constructiva y buscar siempre un «para qué» y un «por qué» que contribuyan al desarrollo social del territorio.
Este grupo de trabajo se ha «inventado» un documento denominado «Declaración de Salamanca» en el que se recogen los resultados de este foro a modo de Informe de buenas intenciones por el que la Universidad, como ente global, se compromete a liderar los retos presentes a través de la formación de los líderes del futuro. Sin embargo, hay que resaltar una realidad en lo que todos han coincidido: las Universidades no tienen «stock» de activos humanísticos, ni resiliencia ante el cambio digital y, sobre todo, carecen de algo tan necesario como «pallets de valores«.
Desde el método Kaizen, buscamos siempre integrar ideas, pensamiento y filosofía para buscar alternativas optimistas a nuestros problemas cotidianos. Esta tarde, un amigo que trabaja por y para la Universidad y que siguió este evento por streamingm me comentaba que en algunas sesiones quedaron muchas preguntas sin respuesta.
Para buscar respuestas, desde imita, aconsejamos fijar la mirada en el pensamiento de un hombre que fusionaba el rigor científico con la audacia de un soñador, Bucminster Fuller. Creía en la posibilidad de hacer funcionar al mundo para el 100% de la Humanidad y lo plasmó en su «Inventario de recursos mundiales, tendencias y necesidades humanas«.
Su clarividencia nos ayuda a pensar nuevos modos de actuar en el presente para transformar la Universidad del Futuro, lo que requiere que todos nos veamos como parte de un sistema complejo. En él, todos somos agentes de cambio, tanto si estamos dentro del ámbito académico como participantes como si somos observadores que pueden mejorar la institución.
Situaciones adversas siempre las habrá: hay que vencerlas con valentía. Una muy cercana es la que nos que nos presenta el Informe COTEC del 2018. No es causal que los asistentes a su presentación en el Vicente Calderón la tuvieran que leer, incluidos los miembros de la Casa Real, con una linterna para iluminar unos resultados más que mejorables. Un año más, las evidencias hacen necesario insistir en la necesidad de revisar las Políticas de innovación a nivel global: instrumentos, fondos y medios humanos.
Esta situación me recordaba a aquel día aciago en que Fuller, junto al lago Michigan, acarició la idea del suicidio como solución para que su familia cobrase el seguro de vida. Pero pudo darse cuenta que no se pertenecía, que no se podía eliminar a si mismo, que su vida se elevaba por encima de lo que era. De ese mismo modo lo expresaba esta misma mañana en una ponencia de la Cámara de Comercio el fundador de Business UP System, Antonio del Hoyo: «lo que somos y tenemos es del Universo o, si queremos encontrarlo en algo más cercano, pertenece a Dios».
De este sencillo pensamiento obtuvo Fuller sus teorías sobre el Conocimiento procreativo, aquel que hace progresar a la sociedad y nos pertenece a todos. La Universidad, al poseer mayor conocimiento, tiene que actuar en consonancia con la responsabilidad social que eso implica.
Parafraseando a Bucky, como le llamaban sus amigos, “La Declaración de Salamanca» no es más que un manifiesto. Así, más allá de leer manifiestos o elaborarlos, el objetivo común es que nosotros seamos esos manifiestos, a través de nuestras propias acciones.
La Universidad, más allá de ser la «App del Conocimiento«, no se tiene que conformar con eso. Tiene que poseer la capacidad de soñar e imaginar otras realidades.
Inventemos juntos el futuro. Soñemos algo nuevo de todos. El que tiene Universidad se bautiza.
