Luego llegaron los romanos, acuñaron la moneda y acabaron con todo este progreso.
Sin embargo, el trueque en nuestros tiempos modernos permanece «embebido», cual vídeo de Youtube, y lo usamos a modo de permuta en nuestras operaciones de negociación más arriesgadas. Al igual que cambiábamos cromos en el patio del colegio seguimos sintiendo esa sensación de encontrar ese «cromo que nos falta» cuando fichamos para nuestra empresa a ese Ingeniero brillante o cuando cerramos un acuerdo de exclusividad de un nuevo producto para incluirlo en nuestro «portfolio».
Este sistema es la base de la Economía Circular y, si vamos directamente al grano,
desechando las carteras virtuales del «insert coin» o el tejemaneje de la especulación de materias primas como el oro, la plata, el cobalto azul o los diamantes, nos encontramos ante un panorama en el que quizá el dinero dejará de existir tal y como lo conocemos. Viviremos un «Regreso al Pasado» para volver al trueque, ya que nuestro sistema económico del «usar y tirar» no es sostenible por más tiempo.
